Photo Feedback Evening Session
Date: August 18, 2016
Duration: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: Our studio
Rejoin the group for a photo review and feedback session.
Participants will shoot in various outdoor locations (preselected by instructors, or a place of your choice). You will choose an object to include in the photograph as you found it, without any manipulation or changes. This object will then be brought back to the studio where - on day two - you will set up, light and shoot a creative studio image.
You can use any of our 35mm, medium or large format cameras, or bring your own film camera(s). Reservation required.
Who is this workshop suited to?
This is the perfect course for the photographer who wishes to develop a cross-disciplinary approach to their work. Are you a street photographer wishing to strengthen your technical repertoire; a studio or art photographer who wants to explore a fresh approach to your work and the world?
What will your weekend look like?
Day 1: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (Outside)
Meet at our studio where we start with a presentation about the objectives of the workshop. Learn how to understand and interpret light and how it relates to film and black & white photography. After a light lunch we’ll go out on the first field photoshoot where you will find and shoot the object you find within the environment. The idea is not to interfere with the object but to work with it as a found subject.
Day 2: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (Inside)
You return to our studio with your found object. There will be a demonstration and discussion of studio lighting options, and how to best bring out the character of an object. You will then set up and shoot the object.
We will arrange to have your film processed and scanned, ready for pickup at our studio later in the week.
If you would like to complete your photographic project from shoot to print, consider adding the Day in the Darkroom 1-day workshop.
Minimum requirements
Every participating photographer is expected to have reasonable competence, including a working understanding of exposure, aperture, and shutter speeds on a technical and aesthetic basis.
Familiarity with shooting on film is not required.
Bring an analogue film camera or use the opportunity to experiment with a different format. A wide variety of cameras in 35mm, medium and large format will be available, as well as suitable tripods. Camera reservation required. To rent a camera or if you don't know where to start, email us at info@buphotoworkshops.com.
