Fall Foliage (Arboretum) is a one-day expedition into Boston’s indigenous and exotic pastures in the neighbourhood of Jamaica Plain.

Participants will go on a nature expedition under the guidance of your instructor to capture the glory of the New England Autumn. You will be encouraged to experiment with more complex exposures and compositions. Feel free to bring a digital or analog camera that you are comfortable using. We also have a range of analog large, medium or 35mm format cameras to use (film not included). Camera Reservation Required.

It will be an all day affair, with coaching, feedback and discussions throughout the day.

Who is this workshop suited to?

This is the perfect course for the photographer who wants some guidance in how best to capture Nature’s wonderful fall display. A basic to intermediate grasp of photography is required, more advanced users will be able to make the most of this time, too. This workshop is available to both film and digital camera users.

What will your day look like?

7:00 am - 2:00 pm

We will meet at the Arboretum entrance early enough to take advantage of any mist or fog. We will have a brief discussion at a designated meeting place and then head off.

Your instructor will be walking around but  will be at designated spots at prearranged times throughout the morning for consultations.

Minimum requirements

Every participating photographer is expected to have reasonable competence, and should have a working understanding of exposure, aperture, and shutter speeds on a technical and aesthetic basis.

Familiarity with shooting on film or processing is not required. 

Bring a camera of your choice, either digital or film. A wide variety of film cameras in several formats will also be available. Reservation required.
